Hold on to those party hats as the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the city from 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon to 10 p.m. Thursday night.
West winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 to 50 mph are expected.
Winds at these speeds can cause flying debris, turn unsecured objects into projectiles and can lead to power outages as residents are urged exercise caution when walking, biking or driving.
Before an outage, residents are also urged to charge cell phones, gather supplies and turn refrigerators or freezers to a colder setting.
If an outage does occur, stay clear of any downed power lines, turn off all appliances, keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to prevent food spoilage and do not use generators indoors.
If you have a disability or access needs or use Life Sustaining Equipment and need immediate assistance, dial 911.
